A Matchless Bloom of Love

"Cadena de Amor" is a Spanish Words, which means...Chain of Love.It is a kind of hanging plants that requires the owner to hang it up to allow its flowers and view its beauty. Its flowers range from i/2 to 2/3 meter long. Having this length, we cannot hanged them any where, except for a much higher branch of plants, considering the exceptional blooms of its flowers. This will grow better in branches of tree. Cooler place accommodate this plants. It reproduce young buds but allow the old ones to bloom.

Uniquenes of Cadena de Amor

Sometimes in 1979, I was about to finish my College degree, but was not capable of finishing my UNDERGRADUATE THESES. A man pass by in front of our boarding house carrying the said hanging plants. Out of my curiosity, I asked him about this plant. His reply was for sale. This plant has about 5-6 bunch of flowers. I was delighted and bought the said plant n the amount of 4peso(Philippine currency).
Upon my graduation in College, I brought it at home together with the other hanging plants given to my by my close friends.

I graduated in 1980 and got married in 1981. We temporarily live with my parents, since we got no permanent job yet. Upon our business opportunity for agricultural Products, we settle in our own and have this residence that shelters us until this date. My mother knew my fondness in plants, so she brought few of my collections in our new home. We housed the in an old coffee tree. Among these plants was the Cadena de Amor that I bought before my graduation in College. I was familiar with other plants, but not this mentioned plants.

Sometimes in 1987, I was about to register to my home town. I met my teacher in Grade VI, Mrs. Olania Ali Abdul. I spotted the same plant in her garden. It was she who made mention that this plants is named, Cadena de Amor, meaning...Chain of Love. She offered to have one and educate me on how to reproduce them. I was really wise. I am keeping the plants for almost a decade but I was not able to find it name. My teacher allow me to have as many as I like, since she has incredible number of it. I got only two of its buds.
When I returned home, I tried to follow the instructions in reproducing more of it. I hanged them in any part of the trees that surrounds our house. I have so many of them, but when we shifted for another business in 1994, my plants were left unattended, which included this plant. The other plants did not survived but a very limited number of this plant remain in the branch of Cacao tree.

I retired in having business now. My children have it instead. I enjoy with my profession as teacher. I have to find what plants that awaited my return. This plants were among other, patience enough to wait for me. I have almost 20 of them now, and the other were brought to our school to add the beauty of our school garden.

Recently, I noticed the blooms of this plants. I have recalled the the origin of it and the values that it brings to me. The chain of love that happens to me, from my college life to this date that I am already a Grandma of four was exemplified by this plants. The bunch of flowers that strongly hold each other defines our well-built family relations.

From my being a College girl to being a faithful wife, later a mother and now a grandmother, this plants keeps reminding me of my past...my joys, my struggles, my fondness and my success of being a mother. Those were things worth remembering.
