Tiny Butterfly and the Cat

My garden is in the rear view of my window. With few steps from my bed, I can refresh my feeling and fill my heart with the scent of flowers.. It’s not a surprise to see butterflies in any gardens. They love to taste and smell the scent and tiny sweet drops of pollination. That is why we called them friends and great admirers of flowering plants.

I can not account numbers and kinds of butterflies in my garden. But I am akin to this big-black and red butterflies. Except, they become my friends. They visited sometimes in my bedroom. My mother has plenty of ties of all kinds and source in my bedroom. Every time she notice d those butterfly’s visit, she tied nylon or other kinds used for tying to hold all blessings that this butterfly may brings. ( it is a Maranaw Superstitious beliefs) I kept on believing too that in every entry of butterfly, another blessing will come. My garden’s existence served as my invitations to them, though it was not reveal, but I have also this beliefs. The relevance of these butterflies are, significance to me not only for my eyes but also in my heart.

It was my practice to write even just a few lines for my blog when I am not busy. One time, I notice one of our cats, (we have five cats at home) busy running and then jump and silence once in a while. Something must be foreign for this cat. I was not wrong indeed, for it was entertaining to watch a butterfly and a cat playing. I suddenly slip off my work and watch them closely. Initially, I find the butterfly to be clever, avoiding the cat. Finally, I confer that the failure of the insect to fly at a maximum is the initiative of the cat. The wing of the insect in the right side was partly damage. I initiate an effort to send the butterfly out. But the cat move even fasters than I am. He has the butterfly in full control. More damage to the wings and slowly thus, this butterfly manages to fly. Happily watching thus this cat has on the butterfly, its energy was tested. The cat lifted its right arms and tried to pull back the butterfly again, until its wings was fully broken.

I tried to hold my temper for I do not encourage this kind of behavior. The cat has slowly killed the insect. Though the insect endure to survive but the cat wants to take every effort and breathe of the insect. It was too bad for this butterfly to be a captive of sadist animal. Its chance of surviving was taken, until its last bit. If we encourage our children to act like human, contrary to this cat, we have to view to them the good side of helping people in need, rather than, dragging sufferings towards few. It is one of cat’s behaviors that I detest…killing its enemy in a most sensitive manner, watching every inch of chance and take its life.

Such is the morale that I viewed to my children. Never challenge a helpless opponent, for even if you win, you can not expect a reward. In a ring, weighing both boxers is required in order to have equal chance of winning. Its cowardice act to win in a helpless opponent. If you did, you will be the laughing stock of the entire community.

While, when there is a chance to save, take the necessary action before its too late, and if there is need to help, provide it before due time. It is not fine to keep watching, while you can provide remedy for the problem. But a similar person can afford to stare at a person crawling in hardship. I regret for the tragic incident met by that butterfly. If I did not allow myself to watch and finely entertained, I might save the life of the insect. But I was wrong! We must familiarize our children to take a step on need and help to the needy and helpless and mostly, do not allow your self to participate on playing ones life, for life once taken can not be replace any more.
